People Evolve

Over the years, I have learned that people do not change. People evolve. In years past, I have hoped for people to change. I quickly learned that this is not a reasonable expectation. People evolve. They do not change, like me, they grow and learn. Just as I learned that people do not change, I was evolving. I was slowly learning this simple rule. By virtue, I was evolving to become the person I am and continue to evolve into the person I hope to be.

Free water. One simple Step.

Have you ever considered that there is a free water source for watering your plants during the summer? There is. It is called your shower water. I'll bet that every day you turn on the shower water, let it run until it gets warm, then you get in. Ever think of how much water goes down that drain? It amazed me when I stuck a 5 gallon bucket under the shower faucet about 5 summers ago. Each day I collected a few gallons of water while the shower warmed up. I used that water on my plants outside during the heat of summer.

Free water? You are throwing that water away while waiting for your shower to heat up. You pay for the water to give your yard/plants a drink. Why not use the water you are already paying for? Collect shower water it in a bucket and use it to water your yard. You'll be amazed how much water and money you save...

Who cares about tires? You Should.

This has always puzzled me: People buy nice cars, are concerned about traction control and airbags covering every angle. They are fixated on crash testing and crash ratings, demand traction control, brake assisted crash sensors and brakes that dry themselves when the wipers are turned on. Why is it that people ignore tires? Remember - the tire you drive on is the ONLY thing that actually touches the road. Buy the best tires you can afford.

Turn down the water

So we are expecting our first child. I thought about this for a while and came to a conclusion: I am going to turn down the water under the sinks. Why would I do that? Well...I have heard from almost every one of my friends that their children have left the water running and the emergency overflow on their sink could not keep up once the sink filled. The water overflowed and caused damage. Well, turn down the water at the wall under the sinks and you can control the amount of flow at the faucet. It will also save water as we all leave the water running while we brush our teeth...
